Christmas Food
Jay really deserves major kudos this year. As previously mentioned in the last post, she and I decided to take this Christmas to establish new traditions.
But in reality, I just had the idea of bowling. She called and made the reservation. She and Jarrett ordered the shirts that got everyone super psyched to play.
She suggested and organized the Cookie Party so we could see all of our friends that were also in Buffalo for the holiday. She and Matt frosted and decorated cookies.
And this little, super cute and glowingly pregnant girly did ALL of the cooking for 3 days. The reality is that with the absence of Christmas brunch of the past few years my family sort of stopped eating anything preplanned at Christmas.
It got a little but better the year mom finally remembered you cannot order a pizza on Christmas eve, and had an order for sandwiches ready at the grocery. But we tend to be creatures of habit and although on a normal trip home Matt and I are fed on the schedule of Hobbits, Christmas is the exception to second breakfast.
But this year, Jay had us covered. Not only did she cook an amazing Christmas Eve dinner, including my first exposure to mid-western fruit salad, but she handled breakfast Christmas morning as well. I was all amazingly tasty.
She's going to be an amazing mom, and if her planning and meals from Christmas are at all telling, completely ready to establish some family traditions of her own.
I just hope she keep us along for the ride, because it was wicked fun.
