It's all about the vinegar and oil

especially when you made a quiet promise to your inners (like I did) that just because you found the boy of your dreams, and that boy is repelled by most things green and leafy, that you will weave them back into your diet like the staple they once were.

How interesting that one falls out of love with veggies just as easily as you fall in love with them. And as part of that pact to my body, I'm trying to eat salads for dinner. Especially when Matt's not home.

And as we were out to lunch on our weekly date lunch, this time at Monroe Restaurant and Bar (which is super cute with an incredible patio, and has Katherine's amazing food, as well as her flour-less chocolate cake. Yay!), we stumbled upon Tasteful Additions. As a huge specialty vinegar fan, and a lover of high-end olive oils, it was a great find. Don't get me wrong, I love F. Olivers - but sometimes even a city gal like I can't take parking on Park Ave.

Tasteful Additions not only had a wonderful selection, but the most lovely and realistic of sales people. One very personable, warm woman, who neither made me feel like I was not supposed to be there, but also understood and didn't judge my dislike of flavored oils. Instead she introduced me to their Moresca which I loved immediately.

So tonight I had a big-salad. And even though the avocado in the picture above was too rotten inside to add to the salad (oops) it was amazing. I'm pretty sure it was Tasteful Additions' Fig Balsamic that did it. INCREDIBLE! And with the promise to myself to continue to work my way through sampling their seemingly endless vinegars - I might just keep my promise to my inners.

2 musings:

  1. If you're looking for salad recipes, my favorite is lettuce, Granny Smith apple, avocado, goat cheese and pecans. :) It's pretty hearty.

  2. That sounds amazing! I'm totally in and I think it would go awesome with the Fig Balsamic! Thanks Lisa!
